Race Running, the new sport and recreational activity for children and adults with special needs

Boy running

Welcome to Race Running

This site is provided to give more information on racerunning and running bikes, an emerging sports and recreational activity for those with special needs.

The first aspect of this website is the equipment used, the Running Bike or Racerunner, giving you information on what the equipment is like and who can use it.

The second area is that of the sport of Race Running, the techniques used, training goals and the competition classifications.

Together, we hope these elements paint a picture for you of the fun and freedom this exiting activity can bring and encourage you participate yourself.

Introducing the Running Bike

The Running Bike looks like a tricycle without pedals. You may think there is nothing special in that, however what it does is to give children and adults the opportunity to experience the thrill of moving through their outdoor environment. It also opens the door for participation in an exciting and emerging sport, Race Running.

Many of those who use the Running Bike have found a new dimension to life. Some who have been restricted to power wheelchairs have now found a way propelling themselves by their own efforts in a Running Bike.

It is our utmost hope that you can take some time to explore this website and that it will inspire you.

"Racerunning not only gives me the opportunity to compete alongside other Petra users but also the ability to line up alongside able bodied runners in road races of varying distances."
